前言
Preface

1990年，钱学森给时任“863计划”智能计算机专家组组长的汪成为写了一封信，给“Virtual Reality”提供了两个翻译——“人为景境”或“灵境”。钱学森说“我特别喜欢‘灵境’，中国味特浓”。三十年后，钱学森的这封手稿被重新发现并在媒体上引发广泛讨论，让人们惊叹的不仅在于钱老对于科学技术的前瞻性判断，还在于他所提出的“灵境”一词极具中国传统文化的美感，仿佛瞬间赋予冰冷的科技以灵魂，并嫁接了中国古人对于空灵、理想之境的种种想象和虚实相生的哲学观念。

In 1990, Qian Xuesen wrote a letter to Wang Chengwei, who was then the leader of the expert group on intelligent computers for the "863 Program", suggesting two translations for "Virtual Reality" — "Artificial Environment" or "Spiritual Realm". Qian Xuesen mentioned, "I particularly like 'Spiritual Realm', as it has a strong Chinese flavor." Thirty years later, Qian Xuesen's manuscript was rediscovered and sparked widespread discussion in the media. People were not only amazed by Qian's foresight in scientific and technological judgments but also by the term "Spiritual Realm" he coined, which is imbued with the aesthetic of traditional Chinese culture. It seemed to instantly endow cold technology with a soul and graft onto it the ancient Chinese concepts of ethereal and ideal realms, as well as philosophical notions of the interplay between reality and imagination.

正是以此为契机开启了我们对于包含VR在内的新媒体技术背后的文化属性和审美取向的思考和探讨。“再造灵境”一方面是在新媒体技术的背景下对传统美学的回望与重塑，以多媒体影像、虚拟现实、交互设计等新的技术链接、激活传统；另一方面则将新媒体艺术纳入历史文化脉络，在瞬息万变的数字时代探寻具有“中国味”的认知框架和精神锚点。

This rediscovery served as a catalyst for us to start thinking and discussing the cultural attributes and aesthetic orientations behind new media technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR). "Recreating Spiritual Realm" on the one hand is a reflection and reshaping of traditional aesthetics against the backdrop of new media technology, it connects and revitalizes tradition through new technological means such as multimedia imaging, virtual reality, and interactive design; On the other hand, it integrates new media art into the historical and cultural context, exploring a cognitive framework and spiritual anchors with a "Chinese flavor" in the rapidly changing digital age.

“再造灵境——当代艺术展”是从“艺术与科技”主题出发组织和策划的专题展览，展览旨在展现艺术家利用当代科技所进行的一系列艺术实践与成果。

"Recreating Spiritual Realm - Contemporary Art Exhibition" is a thematic exhibition organized and curated around the theme of "Art and Technology." The exhibition aims to showcase a series of artistic practices and achievements by artists using contemporary technology.

此次邀请了陈抱阳、邓悦君、高世强、李舜、王之纲、郑达六位国内具有创新精神的当代艺术家，他们立足中国优秀的传统文化资源，通过新技术、新观念和新语言，对传统的文化和技术创造性地进行当代转换，让科技和艺术结合，让传统的思想和美学理念创造性地进行展现，用艺术的方式让传统艺术在现代文明中进行延展。

This exhibition features six innovative contemporary artists from China: Chen Baoyang, Deng Yuejun, Gao Shiqiang, Li Shun, Wang Zhigang, and Zheng Da. Drawing on China’s rich traditional cultural resources, they creatively transform traditional culture and technology through new technologies, concepts, and languages. By merging technology and art, they present traditional thoughts and aesthetic concepts in innovative ways, extending traditional art within modern civilization through artistic expression.
